We are proud to share that the Louisiana Biomedical Research Network (LBRN) has secured a renewed award for the 2025–2030 period, marking a transformative chapter for biomedical research, training, and innovation across Louisiana.
Since its founding in 2001, LBRN’s mission has been to elevate research capacity, support faculty development, and empower students at primarily undergraduate institutions (PUIs) and research-intensive partners alike.
This renewal reflects the confidence of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) and our state partners in our vision and impact. With this support:
-
We will expand our training programs in cutting-edge areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, omics, and structural biology.
-
We will deepen research infrastructure and collaborative networks statewide, enabling students and faculty to engage in meaningful biomedical discovery and translation.
-
We will strengthen our outreach to historically underrepresented institutions and broaden pathways for undergraduate and graduate research engagement, preparing the next generation of Louisiana’s biomedical workforce.
What this means for you:
-
For students: Increased access to summer research experiences, virtual training modules, and mentorship from leading researchers across Louisiana.
-
For faculty: Enhanced opportunities for collaborative grants, access to shared resources and infrastructure, and professional development in emerging interdisciplinary research areas.
-
For institutions: A stronger statewide research ecosystem, with improved connectivity among PUIs, research-intensive universities, and community partners.
-
For the state: A sustained investment in our biomedical research capacity, workforce development, and innovation ecosystem that strengthens Louisiana’s position in the global research arena.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partner institutions, supporters, mentors, and trainees whose dedication has made this renewal possible. Your engagement is the foundation of this effort, and we look forward to embarking on a bold new phase of growth and impact together.
Stay tuned for upcoming announcements about new workshops, training modules, summer research programs, and collaborative initiatives. We’re excited to continue our journey with you.
Thank you for being part of the LBRN community.
