Dr. Raphyel Rosby, a biological sciences graduate from LSU, spoke to young researchers at the Summer Undergraduate Research Forum about his journey from being young and curious to becoming a trained scientist. Rosby also shared some of his work researching ribosomes. Dr. Michael Hellberg, a marine biologist of the LSU Department of Biological Sciences, brought the LBRN summer research program weekly seminars to a close as its last presenter. Dr. Hellberg shared a few photos of his field work, dispelled misconceptions about marine biology, and explained lysin and its influence on the genetics of aquatic animals.

Dr. Gary Byerly, dean of the LSU graduate school, gave undergraduate researchers of the LBRN summer research program invaluable advice on what to consider when choosing a graduate program and what steps should be taken to increase chances of admission.

Substituting for Dr. Jayne Garno, two of her fellow group members, Venetia D. Lyles and Susan D. Verberne-Sutton, gave undergraduate researchers for the LBRN summer research program a few general tips to successfully present their posters at the upcoming research forum.

Dr. Jason Gardner of LSUHSC-NO gave undergraduate researchers a look at his work involving the human heart. He was one of the speakers for the LBRN summer research program. The focus of Dr. Gardner's research includes the extracellular matrix and how it relates to heart failure.

Dr. Nesterov, of the Department of Chemistry at LSU, spoke to undergraduate researchers for the LBRN summer research program about his journey from Russia to the US in pursuit of an education in organic chemistry and his contributions in the field of photochemistry.

Dr. Bill Wischusen, program coordinator for LBRN, guided undergraduate researchers through the process of how to properly make a poster and present it at the Summer Undergraduate Research Forum.

John Larkin of the Louisiana State University Department of Biological Sciences presented his lab's research for the LBRN summer research program. He spoke to undergraduate researchers specifically about plant cell division and trichome cells.
