The Department of Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University, in conjunction with the National Institutes of Health, Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network Program, is hosting research opportunities for eligible faculty and students, both graduate and undergrad in the Biological and Computational Sciences. Those interested in working on projects at the interface between the biological and computational sciences are encouraged to apply to this program. Work will be done in established laboratories, with interaction among scientists and peers. Of special focus is providing research opportunities to faculty and students from primarily undergraduate institutes in the state of Louisiana.


Selection

Faculty must:

  1. be a full time faculty in a University in the state of Louisiana (excluding LSU).
  2. have research interests in the Biological or Computational Sciences.
  3. be interested in collaborating research projects.

Graduate Students must:

  1. be enrolled in a graduate program in a University in the state of Louisiana (excluding LSU).
  2. have at least a 3.0 GPA.
  3. consider pursuing a career in the Biological or Computational Sciences.

Undergrads must:

  1. be enrolled in a University in the state of Louisiana (excluding LSU).
  2. be a science major with at least a 3.0 GPA.
  3. consider pursuing a career in the Biological or Computational Sciences.
  4. have completed appropriate science introductory courses.

No prior laboratory research experience is needed for undergraduate students.
Women & members of under-represented minorities are urged to apply. Please note that priority will be given to applicants from primarily undergraduate institutes in Louisiana.

Research opportunities are available in many of the laboratories of faculty members within the College of Basic Sciences
.
  1. Biological Sciences : biochemistry, microbiology, plant biology, and zoology & physiology.
  2. Chemistry.
  3. Computer Science.
  4. Physics and Astronomy.
  5. LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.
  6. LSUHSC, New Orleans.
  7. Tulane National Primate Research Center.
  8. LSU Pennington Biomedical Research Center.

  9. Opportunities in other science laboratories may be arranged under special circumstances.
