GeneLab NGS/Bionformatics Workshop on Infectious Disease Pathogens  View Printable Version

A Bioinformatics Workshop is being held by the LBRN Molecular and Cell Biology Core. They have presentations on new NGS capabilities and will have 6-8 faculty members presenting their work (second day) on the use of NGS and Bioinformatics in their research projects. Speakers are from LSU (SVM, Biological Sciences, Ag. Center) and the Tulane National Primate Research Center.

The Workshop will be held June 13-14 in Room 1212C of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.

This year's workshop is being held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the NEW Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium in New Orleans, LA.

LSU Health Science Center and LBRN will host the 6th Computational Biology Workshop. The one-day event will take place Friday, February 22, 2013 in New Orleans (Louisiana Cancer Research Center). We would like to invite researchers, faculty, graduate and undergraduate students to attend.

The workshop will begin with a keynote from Dr. Jennifer Clarke, Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, Division of Biostatistics & Department of Medicine, University of Miami. Additional topics will include:

Panels considering the present and future state of computational biostatistics and cancer research
multi-institution computational biology collaborations
updates on recent & future LBRN PI applications of bioinformatics, biostatistics, and computational biology tools.

As in previous years, participation (including travel and lodging) will be supported for LBRN faculty, graduate students, undergraduate students, and core members.

HPC @ LSU will have a LONI High Performance Computing Workshop to be held in University of Louisiana at Lafayette, on November 1 & 2, 2010. The workshop will be an introductory workshop covering overview of LONI and TeraGrid, introduction to LONI HPC environment of Dell Linux machines, introduction to Parallel Computing, introduction to MPI and practical MPI, introduction to programming with OpenMP.
